There is a lot of political activity surrounding the trans community. It can (and does) feel overwhelming. The temptation to hide and binge-watch Netflix’s is very real and compelling. Although our future may look bleak and those opposing our very existence appear to be in control, we cannot give up hope. For there is hope. We have the hope born from our loving and accepting community. We have the hope of the undeniable truth and reality that we do exist. We have existed for thousands of years and will continue to do so.

In 2026, anti-trans bills continue to be introduced across the country. Anti-trans legislation continues to be introduce at an alarming rate. This website tracks legislation that seeks to block trans people from receiving basic healthcare, education, legal recognition, and the right to publicly exist. (updated: 4/16/26)

POSTED APRIL 2026:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A bill that requires doctors to report on transgender-related healthcare has passed the Tennessee Senate. As written, the bill would require health care providers and insurers to track gender transition and detransition treatments. On Monday, the Senate passed the bill 24 to 7 after adding amendments to address some privacy issues. As Tennessee State Senators came to the floor on Monday afternoon, about two dozen activists formed a wall in the hallway, singing to the lawmakers. LINK
FLORIDA — DeSantis and extremist lawmakers manufactured a slate of some of the most sweeping anti-LGBTQ bills in the country. At the same time, the Florida Department of Health launched a cruel attack on public health by cutting funding for the state’s AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), putting life-saving medication at risk for thousands of Floridians living with HIV. WASHINGTON, DC — Overview of President Trump’s Executive Actions Impacting LGBTQ+ Health: Starting on the first day of his second term, President Trump began to issue numerous executive actions, several of which directly address or affect health programs, efforts, or policies to meet the health needs of LGBTQ+ people. This guide provides an overview of these actions, in the order in which they were issued. The “date issued” is date the action was first taken; subsequent actions, such as litigation efforts, are listed under “What Happens/Implications.” It is not inclusive of administrative actions that impact LGBTQ+ people that are not directly related to health and health care access, such as efforts related to participation in sport even though those actions might have an impact on well-being. In addition, within the actions examined, only provisions directly related to health and health access are described in table. LINK

In 2024, anti-trans bills continue to be introduced across the country. We track legislation that seeks to block trans people from receiving basic healthcare, education, legal recognition, and the right to publicly exist. We’re tracking 662 bills in 2024, more than any other year on record. That makes this the fifth consecutive record-breaking year for total number of anti-trans bills considered in the U.S.
An unprecedented 80 bills are being considered at the federal level as the targeting of trans people increasingly moves to the national stage. Read more…
